We have a range of furniture painting workshops designed for the absolute beginner to the more experienced painter. All these workshops can be booked from Tuesday through to Sunday.

Painting a piece of furniture can be a daunting thought, but we can help you start to upcycle your first piece and enable you to gain confidence to tackle bigger projects on your own.

Our workshops are designed to help you through each stage. From the very basics through to adding extra flourishes to your piece using decoupage, stencils, PolyOnlays or WoodUbend.  You can truly make your piece unique.

The furniture painting workshops come in easy to understand practical sessions, These cover every aspect of painting and upcycling your piece and cater for all experience levels.

All workshops are in our Paint and Create Studio which is an enclosed space and can take up to 6 people on each workshop. It’s a great space for group bookings if a group of friends want to come and learn together.

We like to keep our groups small and friendly so we all learn together, and this also makes for a fun, interesting and productive time together with lots of laughter.

We use a range of paint brands we stock and use in our furniture painting workshops. If you would like to choose one of our brands on the day please let us know in advance.

Tea, coffee, water, soft drinks and cake/biscuits are provided on all our workshops, lunch is provided on our all day workshops. Please advise of any dietary requirements when booking

We do recommend you wear old clothes as these are practical workshops and you could get messy. We do provide aprons to wear on the day.

Perfect Preparation (3 Hour Workshop) £45 Per Person (Max 6 people)

Everyone hates preparation but this is the most important stage when preparing to upcycle anything. In this workshop we cover the following.

  • PPE. Personal Protective Equipment. Always protect yourself
  • Different types of surfaces (Wood, Melamine, Glass, Metal etc)
  • Cleaning your piece (Different types of cleaning products and how they are used)
  • Sanding (Grits, and different types of products, electric sanders and scuff sanding)
  • Priming (What, When and How) Is it necessary. We look at the different brands and products available
  • Drying and recoat times
  • Best conditions to be working in
  • When can I apply my topcoat?

Perfect Painting Techniques (3 Hour Workshop) £45 Per Person (Max 6 people)

This workshop will explore different painting applications whether bush or roller. We all want to achieve that brush stroke free finish right. Practice makes perfect as they say and the correct brushes and techniques help too. You will here the term “Laying off” a lot today. This is a critical process when using a brush or roller for a flawless finish.

  • We will take a look at blending and how the misting bottle is your new best friend and which brushes are best to get the look. So many brushes to choose from. You needn’t blow the budget on brushes.
  • Sanding in between coats
  • Time between coats
  • Curing times
  • Brush Care. Protect your tool investment

There are so many effects that can be done with paint and other products these days. We will explore some during the workshop.

  • Patina Sprays and products for rust or verdigris effects

There are so many different paint types and brands on the market today. We will look at some of these and their uses to help you achieve the look and durability you want for your furniture.

We will also take a look at the essential brushes and tools you need to help create these effects.

Paint Your Own Piece (All Day 10am to 4:30pm) Maximum 2 people. £145 Per Person

Do you have a small (Up to bedside cabinet) sized piece of furniture that you’d like to upcycle but you don’t know where to start?

We can teach you the essential skills to upcycle and paint your piece of furniture. This is a full day course where you will learn the top tips, skills, practical and product knowledge and advice to get you started.

You will learn modern painting techniques to breathe new life into your chosen piece of furniture.

We will cover everything from the essential preparation of your piece, applying the paint and relevant topcoats if needed to leave a flawless finish. We aim to give you the confidence to transform and tackle your next piece at home.

No experience is necessary for this workshop .

We require you to send us pictures of your piece before hand so we can have a chat about what you would like to achieve look wise and that the piece is generally in good repair. We like to discuss colours up front too so we can make sure we your brand and colour in stock for you.

Please bear in mind that we are on the first floor so the piece needs to be easily lifted. No Grand Pianos please.

It’s also a good idea to bring old blankets etc to wrap your furniture in for the journey home as you definitely don’t want it to get damaged after all your hard work.
